Today is a special day as celebrating both #Finland 's and #Spain 's independence the same day
While I'm not that nationalistic nor political I do like to celebrate the fact of independence to do and govern in peace. Especially in the light of recent years of instability from the east.
Congratulations to each and everyone in these countries!
A twist of fate made me stumble upon a whitepaper describing the CORBA architecture that pre-dated the text based transfer protocols.
Took me back to my days as a young programmer. Anybody else remember initializing the ORB?
The whitepaper is available from CERN at https://cds.cern.ch/record/491494/files/p133.pdf if you seek nostalgia
@timbray While a nice article it misses the point.
The next evolution is not the clients but the underlying protocol. The next evolution will be on ActivityPub and that will be the real game changer.
Mastodon, Threads and a load of other clients are all already interconnected and talking.
Why BlueSky didn't use ActivityPub I can only attribute to VC greed by keeping data closed and monetizatable and I think this will bite them in the end. Personally this makes me avoid the whole network atm.
